Pride of a Coach: James at the CrossFit Games
The essay Instagram cut off: expecting more from your athletes than they expect of themselves.
I originally wrote a long essay about pride as a coach and about expecting more from your athletes than they expect of themselves; about how although I say very few positive things to #jamestwopointoh he knows it all comes out out of love, respect, and my belief in him as an athlete; about how in his first week at Raincity I told him I expected big things out of him (and here we are)... But instagram cut it off when I tried to post it... So I guess I'll save thar for a blog post.
No matter what happens tomorrow, I couldn't be more proud of this guy.
What a f#&%ing adventure.
He's become a friend, father, child, athlete, and puppy all rolled into one sweaty hairless ball of excessively joyful energy.
He embodies everything I wanted to see in @raincityathls and I can't even imagine how different our #rathletes lives would have been without him.
Thank you to everyone who's done anything to help us get him to where he is now.
Note:
The in & out was coaches orders before his final big day... but contrary to what he'd have you believe, he didn't put up much of a fight.
Now let's do this.

He's up at 10:30am on games.crossfit.com for the 2nd last workout. Then the top 10 continue to a final event in the tennis stadium around 4pm. The standings are close and with 150lb medicine ball cleans, bar muscle ups, and 100+lb thrusters coming up its still anyone's game.
Though we'd love a spot on the podium (currently 4th) the goal is just to make it to the final event (top 10), and see what happens from there.
