After years of using a crop sensor as my primary, and an old A7II body as my backup for events & full frame, I finally made the switch to a full fram A7CII as my primary lens, so time to cleanup and clear-out some of the less used pieces!

Will eventually get around to listing these on marketplace, everything is up for conversation or trade...

Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G — $999

Has been my daily driver for years - incredible lens and the go-to for majority of people shooting on a sony crop body. Not the latest model, so a lot more affordable than the newer options!

  • Constant f/2.8 across the whole range, no light lost as you zoom

  • Frames like a 24-82, which covers almost everything

  • The lens that lived on my a6400 for years... the one I'll actually miss

  • Serial 1813028, hood and (3d printed) caps included

Sony FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G — $899

Basically brand new, bought it when I got my full frame body but decided I should have sprung for the 24-70 since I don't mind the extra weight on my daily driver. This is a great option if you are looking for something a bit smaller / lighter (and much more affordable). Open to trades or combo if you want to pair this up with the A7ii body below.

  • Full frame f/2.8 in a shockingly small package
  • Weighs almost nothing in a bag
  • Sharp wide open

Sony E 15mm f/1.4 G — $639

A great quality and fun wide prime lens to shoot with. Great for anything indoor, low light, and super sharp with that 1.4 aperature.

  • Wide, fast, and TINY
  • f/1.4 eats low light for breakfast
  • Great for video and tight indoor spaces
  • My "one lens, don't want to think about it" lens for a while
  • Hood and caps included

Sony a7 II body — $600

My first full frame, still takes a lovely photo in 2026! Primarily used this as my secondary body when shooting at events. Older model, still works great and takes great photos - body is definitely used, but everything works great. Open to trades or combos.

  • 24 megapixels, in-body stabilization
  • Cheapest honest way into full frame
  • Being straight: it's been USED. Grip and edges show wear. Everything works, nothing rattles, shutter count on request

Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 — $189

The classic first prime - a must have if you're shooting portraits or anything of the sort. Was my favorite prime lines before I started spending a lot more $$ on zooms.

  • Biggest jump in image quality a beginner can buy for the money
  • Everyone's first "whoa" photo comes from a fifty
  • Not a pro lens (autofocus hunts, soft wide open) but at this price who cares

]]> #ThorWuDoesJapan: Kyoto, Old Trains, and Disney Princess Fantasies https://simondamb.org/blog/thorwu-japan-kyoto https://simondamb.org/blog/thorwu-japan-kyoto Mon, 23 Jun 2025 00:00:00 GMT Simon Damborg blog JAPAN travel japan photography Tourist-packed Kyoto, an emoji-only duck ramen menu, and getting far too excited about classic trains. 🇯🇵 #thorwudoesjapan the next couple days in Kyoto was spent hitting up the main touristy spots, some more Michelin star eating my taste buds weren't worthy of, and failing the tism-test by getting far more excited about old trains than any neurotypical will understand.

First thing we noticed in Kyoto was how many more tourists there were. Not sure if there's just less people overall, so it seemed like more - or it's a more popular tourist spot - but it changed the vibe more than we expected.

🚉 With a much less modern rail system I got a little overly excited at all the classic trains we were taking around town 😅 to see the usual sights like the #bambooforest. We also found our next house if someone can put us in touch with the owners of the house on the hill? I took 50+ photos of it before I realized there were people on the patio 😅

@r_wu spent hours lining up for food while I wandered around taking pictures 📸

At the last spot the menu was emojis only, but the 🦆 🍜 was delicious. They'd allow 5 people to lineup in the creepy hallway then the other 50+ were around the corner on the street 🤯.

Next stop was one of my favorites on the trip where I got to live our my Disney princess fantasies 🦌
